How Do I Sign Up for Medicare?

While some people will automatically begin receiving benefits from Medicare Part A and B via Social Security, others will need to sign up for Medicare manually. If you are 65, or will be in three months, and not receiving Social Security, you will need to sign up for Part A and B benefits.

Additional Medicare benefits outside of Part A and B will need to be signed up for manually, as well. You can do this by contacting Delta Benefits Group at (901) 460-7220. A real human will walk you through your Medicare options, find a plan that works best for you and your budget, and get you enrolled in Medicare.

Here are some facts to be aware of concerning Medicare enrollment:

  • Some people will receive Medicare Part A and B automatically, but some people will not. You may need to actually sign up to begin your enrollment.

  • There are specific periods within the year when you can sign up or change your Medicare Advantage benefits (annual enrollment begins October 15 and ends December 7).

  • Sign up for Medicare Part B when you first become eligible to avoid any penalties

  • You can design your own Medicare coverage based on what works best for you, your health, and your budget; a medicare consultant near you can help you do this for free.

  • You may be eligible to get support with Medicare costs. Call Delta Benefits Group to see if you qualify.
