Medicare Part A is known as “hospital insurance.” In general, Part A covers the following:

• Hospital stays

• Skilled nursing facilities

• Nursing home care* (in-patient care in a skilled nursing facility that is not categorized as custodial or long-term care)

• Hospice

• Home health care
